Otmaro Ruiz

Otmaro Ruiz is a supremely gifted, talented, and experienced pianist. Otmaro contributed his abilities on every track of "The Secret of Christmas", and his work is the driving inspiration behind so much of what surrounds him on this album.

Born in Caracas, Venezuela, Otmaro Ruiz started his musical studies at the age of only eight years old at the "Juan Manuel Olivares" Conservatory, where he studied subjects such as theory, harmony, ear training, history & aesthetics, analysis as well as eight years of Classical Guitar. From the years of 1980-89 he worked as Pianist, Keyboard performer, Arranger or Musical Director for many major Venezuelan popular music artists such as Pop, Chevere, Desorden Public, Tokio, Jose Luis Rodriguez “El Puma”, Karina, Carlos Mata just to name a few.

He also worked as a composer, arranger, producer and musical conductor for TV, radio, and movie commercials for Advertising Companies such as J. Walter Thompson, McCann, ARS, VAPRO, Fischer Fineman, CORPA, Leo Burnett, and others (Products: McDonalds, Viceroy, General Electric, Newport, General Motors, Renault, Fiat, Jeep, Lee, Wrangler, Mennen and others). Otmaro also teaches and has won numerous awards for his work as a composer, producer and performance artist.
